Terms of service

Last updated: July 11, 2026

Acceptance of terms

By texting the Kept number, creating an account, or using kepttoday.com, you agree to these terms. If you’re accepting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you’re authorized to do so.

The service

Kept is a capture-to-action assistant: you send messages or voice recordings; Kept classifies them into logs, reminders, ideas, and events; files them; and returns reminders, receipts, and reports by text, email, and the Kept web app.

Text messaging terms

By opting in you consent to receive the messages your use generates (receipts, reminders, reports, and service notices). Message frequency varies with use. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

AI disclaimer

Kept uses AI to interpret what you say. It’s good — and it shows you a receipt precisely because it isn’t perfect. You’re responsible for reviewing receipts and correcting misfiled items. Kept is an organizational tool — not medical, legal, financial, or emergency advice, and not a substitute for professional judgment or emergency services.

No guaranteed outcomes

We work hard to deliver every reminder on time, and we build the system to alert us when delivery fails — but no messaging system is infallible. Kept supports your follow-through; it doesn’t replace your responsibility for critical obligations.

Your responsibilities

  • Only add contact information and notes you have the right to hold; obtain any consent your role requires (e.g., organizational or school policies).
  • Don’t use Kept to send spam, harassment, or unlawful content, or to message people who have opted out.
  • Keep your account credentials and phone number secure; you’re responsible for activity under your account.

Organizations, seats, and data ownership

Organization accounts include creator seats per their plan and unlimited free receiver seats. Records captured into an organization’s scope belong to that organization; personal-scope records belong to the individual. When a creator leaves an organization, org-scoped records remain with the organization and personal records remain with the person.

Billing

Paid plans bill monthly or annually in advance via our payment processor. Annual plans include two months free. Founding-partner pricing is honored for the life of the continuously active subscription. You can cancel anytime; paid periods aren’t refunded but service continues through the period.

Intellectual property

Kept, its design, and its software are ours. Your content is yours; you grant us the limited license needed to operate the service (store, process, transmit, and display it to the people your rules share it with).

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kept is provided “as is,” and our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using Kept at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. You may export your data before or after termination as described in the privacy policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, with venue in Brown County, Texas.

Changes

We’ll post updated terms here and notify account holders of material changes.
